The weblog as a commonplace book
Published Sunday 4th November, 2007 by Skrik
A metaphor that is already a couple of years old, and I haven’t noticed it until now. But it is a fitting metaphor — or it may be, if the weblogger is inclined to make use of the Internet in such a manner.
Or is the coffeehouse a more fitting metaphor? I think it a matter of focus, individual style, and — not least — readership. If no one reads your weblog, then it is probably closer to the personal genre of commonplace book than to the public arena of the coffee house.
