Hard Facts

Living and sometimes working in arctic Norway, I am a British philologist who aspires to riches and fame (although I will quite happily opt for the former sans the latter). I am therefore contemplating writing the most compellingly challenging novel ever produced in English. I have been, and will be, thinking about it for quite a while.

My primary preoccupation is literature. My interest in English literature (details) is slowly but surely being supplanted by the Scandinavian stuff. There is a lot of good (and even important) Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish literature that has, until now, been overlooked by a complacent British and American publishing world. I am interested in rectifying this situation, and am thus seeking to have previously untranslated Norwegian literature published in English.

Complacency also exists in Scandinavia, however. Norway has been slow to explore the lives and works of even its most important authors. Several of these have not even had decent biographies written about them. I hope to produce a biography about one of the most important. I am learning about biographical writing as I go.

This site arose out of my need to express myself in writing, a bug I acquired in my late teens. Because my letters offend people to the extent that they stop writing to me, I thought that I would inflict the cruelties of my mind on the online world, instead.
